Laser Treatments

We have a full range of specialized dermatologic laser and light devices, so we can offer you a complete set of services for revitalization and renewal of your skin. You can feel comfortable about your treatment at our office, knowing that only your dermatologist will operate the laser and intensely pulsed light devices on your skin. We feel that is the best way to get effective results with the fewest number of treatments and minimize the risk of complications.

Our office philosophy is that we only buy powerful lasers that we know will produce effective results for our patients. It sounds obvious, but there are many laser treatments offered in the marketplace that simply do not produce much effect, or are used for a wide variety of conditions but not optimized for any treatment. In many other offices, the operators are not dermatologists, very often are not doctors, and some cases are not even closely supervised by any doctor.

At our office, your dermatologist will personally be assessing your skin and operating the devices, so you can feel comfortable that the right device will be used properly and safely for your skin conditions, for the maximum benefits with the fewest number of treatments.

There are six broad categories of cosmetic laser treatments we offer:

These treatments will be specifically tailored to your skin condition and lifestyle by your dermatologist, based on your particular needs for renewal. Talk to your dermatologist about which treatments are most effective for you, and which may not be necessary.

We like to be upfront and honest with patients that revitalization of your skin is often not a quick fix. It can be thought of more as a journey, and it often requires multiple treatments with multiple lasers. If you are seeking a silver bullet to undo years of sun damage and aging, we are probably not the best office to sell you that promise, because it is probably not realistic. And it is our view that laser treatments typically represent just one of several pillars that support a rejuvenation effort. Optimal rejuvenation for aging and damage starts today with prevention of additional sun damage and involves a variety of treatment modalities combining lasers along with Botox, fillers, and daily skin products.

Laser treatments for skin conditions are all performed here in the office, often with topical anesthesia. Procedures typically take between 30 and 40 minutes to perform, depending on the size and location of the treated area. While some individuals will notice significant results after just one treatment, particularly with the fractionally ablative resurfacing, many patients will require multiple sessions in order to achieve the desired results.

Recovery from laser procedures varies according to the particular procedure undergone and the individual patient’s skin type. It can vary from just some slight redness to several days of recovery time, depending on the treatment. In all cases, however, patients who have undergone these treatments should avoid sun exposure afterward.

Although laser skin treatment is considered safe for most patients and is typically performed with no long-term complications, there are certain risks associated with any type of medical procedure. While considered rare, risks may include infection, scarring, redness, pigmentation changes, acne, milia (tiny white bumps on the skin), or other complications. Ask your dermatologist about any concerns that you have prior to treatment.
