KYBELLA® is a nonsurgical procedure administered as a series
of injections to reduce submental fat, or fat located under
the chin. Submental fullness can be caused by weight gain, genetics, or
aging. KYBELLA® uses synthetic deoxycholic acid to break down
the fat cells and decrease the appearance of fullness below the
chin. Once the full set of procedures is completed, the fat cells will
have been permanently destroyed and no further treatment is expected.
The amount of sessions needed to achieve optimal results varies across
patients due to differences in chin profiles.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair loss is a treatment that stimulates hair growth in patients dealing with various hair loss conditions. Blood is drawn in the office and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the remaining blood. The highly concentrated PRP is then injected into the patient’s scalp where the platelets stimulate the stem cells and promote growth within the hair follicles. The patient’s scalp is anesthetized prior to the injection process to make it a more comfortable experience. This form of treatment for hair loss can be a beneficial non-surgical option for hair restoration.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to treat spider veins by injecting a solution into the veins which causes them to gradually disappear. By injecting a sclerosing solution, the lining of the veins become irritated and eventually turns into scar tissue that then fades away. This method is the preferred treatment for spider veins and has been used since the 1930s.
This procedure is usually performed in your doctor’s office and takes no more than an hour. Most patients need 2 to 4 treatments in order to achieve desired results. There is no downtime other than avoiding strenuous activities for the first 2 to 3 days. It often takes six to eight weeks for the blood vessels to remodel and disappear.
While sclerotherapy is proven as an effective treatment for spider veins, it is not recommended for everybody. Pregnant women and those whose saphenous veins are affected are not typically eligible for this procedure. Sclerotherapy is not effective for large varicose veins and is only recommended for smaller, superficial veins. Talk to your doctor to find out if sclerotherapy is right for you.
